(January 22, 2014) WASHINGTON — The Historic Vehicle Association (HVA) announced today that the 1964 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe will become the first automobile to be recorded under the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Heritage Documentation. The documentation will be part of the HVA's National Historic Vehicle Register and Historic American Engineering Record (HAER) that is permanently archived in the Library of Congress.

(January 21, 2014) SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Barrett-Jackson announced today the strongest sales results in the 43-year history of the Scottsdale car auction. Over the course of six days, nearly 1,400 vehicles were sold at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale event totaling more than $113 million in sales. The star of the show was a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88, pictured above, which fetched $3,850,000, the highest price ever paid for a Corvette at auction.

(January 15, 2014) DETROIT — Cadillac is introducing an evolution of the historic Cadillac Crest, a revision in synch with new products such as the award-winning 2014 CTS and 2015 ATS Coupe. The new Cadillac Crest will begin appearing on vehicles in the second half of 2014.

(January 13, 2014) A while ago we were driving my twin-grandsons back home after they conducted a successful weekend campaign to level our home. Sometimes they’d ask the usual question of, “Are we there yet?” But I noticed that Daniel, the big-twin, was listening to his Walkman and Marc (Wee Man) was doing something or another to while away the 40 minutes or so it takes to get to their house from ours.

(January 10, 2014) TORRANCE, Calif. — Honda vehicles are the most durable and longest lasting of any mainstream automotive brand*, according to Polk vehicle registration statistics from 1988-2012. No other mainstream brand had a greater percentage of vehicles on the road than the Honda brand.

In the mainstream segment, an industry best 75% of all Honda vehicles sold in the last 25 years were still on the road including the 1990 Accord sedan and coupe pictured above.

(January 7, 2014) These billboards have reportedly appeared over the route of the Woodard Dream Cruise in Detroit over the past few years. They remind us of the glory days of the U.S. automotive industry and specifically General Motors.

Perhaps not all of the billboards actually appeared on the street, but you must admit some creative folks did a great job designing them.

(January 2, 2014) Here's what the Oldsmobile Division at General Motors wanted, but never got. A production model of the experimental show car, Oldsmobile F-88. It would have been in direct competition with the Chevrolet Corvette.

While debating the matter, GM built three 1954 Olds F-88 show cars, each one slightly different, all with concealed folding tops. They were designed under the direction of famed GM designer Harley Earl.
