Mecum Las Vegas motorcycle auction reaches $17.5 million in sales

(May 5, 2021) WALWORTH, Wis. — The 30th anniversary return of the Mecum Las Vegas Vintage & Antique Motorcycle Auction was held  April 28 through May 1, and results were strong for the event that has long held status as the world’s largest of its kind. The 2021 auction achieved overall sales of $17.5 million as 1,151 motorcycles changed hands in just four days, and with a total of 1,214 motorcycles offered at the auction, the sell-through rate equaled a hearty 95%, a remarkable achievement for a reserve-based auction.

(May 2, 2021) The Ford Motor Company introduced its first handmade, postwar Ford passenger car for the 1946 model year on June 2, 1945. The vehicle incorporated many leftover 1942 body parts. Decorative trim was nearly identical to the prewar vehicle except for a new massive, chrome-plated grille with red striping within the embossed accents.

New Vault cars include a 1959 Deutsch-Bonnet HBR5 Coupé, 2015 Chevrolet Camaro art car, 1964 Chevrolet Impala “Gypsy Rose,” 1960 Plymouth XNR Replica, 1982 Knight Industries Two Thousand “K.I.T.T.” car, 1948 Bentley Mk VI “New Look” Saloon, 1939 Packard Twelve Landaulet, and 1974 Dale Mock-Up.

Mecum Glendale 2021 auction records $42.3 million in sales

(March 25, 2021) WALWORTH, Wis. — Mecum Auctions, outdid itself once again, setting a new record-high sales total for its Glendale, Ariz., auction. Held March 18-20 at State Farm Stadium, the 2021 auction reached $42.3 million in overall sales totals, a more than 14% increase over Mecum’s first auction in Glendale, which itself had been a record-setting event as the highest-grossing inaugural event in company history.

World’s oldest Aston Martin coming to Concours of Elegance

(March 22, 2021) LONDON — The Concours of Elegance, presented by A. Lange & Söhne, will host the oldest surviving Aston Martin during its 2021 event at Hampton Court Palace in September. Aston Martin ‘A3’ was the third car ever built by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford, and was extensively driven by the founders. This year, it celebrates its centenary.

(March 19, 2021) WALWORTH, Wis. — The most recognizable Ford Bronco in the world and the first “super car” of off-road racing—piloted by one of the most diverse and successful drivers in motorsports history — will be offered for sale to the public for the very first time this May. The famed 1969 Ford Bronco Baja 1000 Racer known as “Big Oly” — still owned by its even more famous pilot Parnelli Jones — is slated to cross the Mecum auction block at the company’s 34th annual Original Spring Classic auction May 14-22 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis.



Petersen Automotive Museum to reopen to the public Thursday, March 25

(March 17, 2021) LOS ANGELES — The Petersen Automotive Museum will reopen to the public on Thursday, March 25  with new exhibits, new vehicles and a new schedule of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. To express its gratitude to all those on the front line during this challenging time, the museum will offer verified health care workers and first responders complimentary admission for themselves and up to three immediate family members for the rest of 2021.

(March 6, 2021) WALWORTH, Wis. — Mecum Auctions will host its third annual auction in Glendale, Ariz., at State Farm Stadium this March 18-20, and the anticipated 1,200-car lineup will be headlined by the awe-inspiring collection of Steve Todhunter, which comprises 20 vehicles ranging from seven pristine, low-mile Ferraris to a 1965 Shelby 427 Cobra FAM previously owned by late actor Paul Walker.
