Jaguar Heritage to hand build final six Lightweight E-Types

(August 12, 2014) MAHWAH, N.J. — Jaguar has revealed the prototype of its continuation Lightweight E-Type — six of which will be built and sold. Jaguar announced in May 2014 that it would create six continuation Lightweight E-Type vehicles, each built by Jaguar Heritage, part of Jaguar Land Rover's new Special Operations division.

BMW enters three fan favorite race cars in Monterey Motorsports reunion

(August 7, 2014) WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J.  — BMW has announced that it will run three BMW USA Classic race cars in the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on Aug. 14-17. The entries include the famous No. 25 BMW 3.0 CSL, the BMW ALPINA 2002ti, and the BMW M1 IMSA Group 4.

The No. 25 BMW 3.0 CSL Group 4 won the 1975 12 Hours of Sebring and was honored in March of this year with a Class win at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance.

Bonhams to preview ultra-rare Ferrari 250 GTO at Monterey

(August 4, 2014) MONTEREY, Calif. — An example of arguably the most famous and sought-after classic race car ever — the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO — will be previewed by Bonhams at the Monterey Pre-Reunion Aug. 9 and 10. The classic race car, of which only 39 were constructed, will be shown in the Bonhams hospitality area at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca where the historic car racing is taking place.

The tale of the printer and the two-seat 'Shorty' Ford Mustang

(July 31, 2014) Back in the early 1960s, as Ford Motor Company product planners, designers and engineers were brainstorming ideas for a compact sporty car, there were numerous proposals for two-seaters. Most of those concepts never got any further than sketches, but at least one running prototype of a two-seat Mustang was built and survives today thanks to the devotion of Bill Snyder of Hudson, Ohio.

Jaguar Land Rover buys huge UK car collection

(July 30, 2014) Dentist James Hull made headlines in the United Kingdom earlier this year when he put up for sale his 543-car collection as a whole with an asking price of around $170 million. Jaguar Land Rover announced earlier this week that it will buy what is considered the world’s largest collection of British cars for its heritage operations.

1918 Cadillac added to Library of Congress Historic Vehicle Register

(July 23, 2014) DETROIT — A 1918 Cadillac Type 57 that earned its place in history during World War I received an honor of its own today. It is the fourth vehicle added to the Historic Vehicle Association’s new National Historic Vehicle Register and U.S. Department of the Interior Historic American Engineering Record. The HVA and Cadillac announced the listing — which will be archived in the Library of Congress — today.

(July 22, 2014) LONDON — Silverstone Auctions is offering the opportunity to own a unique and very special car, with connections to one of the most famous women of the 20th Century, in its sale at Salon Privé on Sept. 4. The car, a 1951 Cadillac Limousine, estimated at between £200,000 ($342,000) and £260,000 ($444,600), served as the official state limousine for Eva Peron, affectionately remembered as Evita, and her husband, the Argentine President Juan Peron.
