Nostalgia Highway

(September 23, 2014) One of the most interesting and intriguing pages from automotive history concerns the Franklin Automobile Company, which flourished in the first three decades of the 20th Century manufacturing an assortment of luxury cars.

(September 15, 2014) This classic Esso gas commercial from 1938 is rather interesting giving us a peak into the American service station in the late '30s. Nice theme too — giving a little something extra.

It was a time before such government entities became concerned with leaded gasoline. And note the rather weird and spooky cartoon at the end.

(September 13, 2014) On this day in 1899 (Saturday, Sept. 13) the first known traffic fatality occurred in the U.S. When Henry Bliss stepped off a streetcar at Central Park West and 74th Street in New York, automobiles were a novelty.  Thus, he didn't look carefully, and was run over by an almost silent electric taxi. 

(September 6, 2014) LONDON — A 1972 one-owner Jaguar E-type S3 FHC stormed past its £17,500 ($28,000) - £20,000 ($32,000) estimate to sell for £45,372 ($72,500) at Barons’ British Heritage sale at Sandown Park on Sept. 2. The car was part of the collection of the late David Cheeseman, and attracted a huge amount of interest, with bids coming in over the internet, from three phone bidders and from bidders in the bustling sale room itself.
