George Foreman Collection live for auction on Hagerty Marketplace

(November 16, 2023) TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. — Hagerty has announced the George Foreman Collection of more than 50 collector cars, spanning every decade of production from the 1930s through present, are now available for online auction through Hagerty Marketplace, an easy-to-use platform to buy and sell automobiles. The auction lots will close between Dec. 11 and Dec. 21, with multiple cars ending each weekday.

(November 14, 2023) NEW YORK — As part of Sotheby’s New York sales of Contemporary and Modern Art, the auction room doors closed on Nov. 13 with a select group of bidders gathered in person and over the phone to vie for a piece of Ferrari history. After nearly four decades in private ownership, Chassis 3765 was claimed by its new owner for $51.7 million.

(October 27, 2023) The annual Mecum Chattanooga collector car auction returned to the Chattanooga Convention Center again this past weekend, as the Chattanooga Motorcar Festival took over the streets of the Tennessee city’s stunning downtown region. This year’s auction saw nearly 400 vehicles hammer sold in just two days, Oct. 13-14, with total overall sales reaching $13.2 million.

(October 15, 2023) Coca-Cola introduced its first automatic fountain dispenser at the 1933 Chicago Century of Progress Exposition. Then to promote the machine Coca-Cola commissioned coachbuilders H. McFarlane & Company of Chicago to build a truck. The "sampling truck" for was built using a 1934 Dodge KH-23 truck chassis.

(September 14, 2023) On November 6, 1979, my grandmother bought a new Mercedes-Benz 280E and paid $22,943 for the privilege.  I know because I have the invoice.  That’s over $80,000 in today’s money for a car with AM/FM radio, vinyl seats, and hubcaps.  But, Grandma owned the best car in the world — a car named 1977 Import Car of the Year by Motor Trend magazine and featured in a book titled, “Mercedes-Benz W123:  The finest saloon car of the 20th Century?”
