Petersen Museum will open display of custom cars from James Hetfield

(January 15, 2020) LOS ANGELES — The Petersen Automotive Museum will debut a new exhibit featuring 10 custom vehicles, donated from James Hetfield’s personal collection. Opening Feb. 1 in the Bruce Meyer Family Gallery, “Reclaimed Rust: The James Hetfield Collection” will celebrate Hetfield’s creativity as a world-renowned artist through his built-from-scratch custom car collection, guitars, photos and memorabilia.

(August 21, 2019) OXNARD, Calif. — The Mullin Automotive Museum located in Oxnard has announced that one of its vehicles has won a coveted “Best in Class” award at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance during the Monterey Car Week in Monterey, Calif., on Aug. 18. The Mullin’s 1937 Delahaye Type 145 Chapron Coupe received the highest award in the “European Classic Closed” class, from a field of competitors around the globe.

(July 10, 2019) LOS ANGELES — The Petersen Automotive Museum will host two days of special events celebrating the life and accomplishments of former Chevrolet chief engineer, race driver and “Father of the Corvette” Zora Arkus-Duntov. The two-day celebration will feature several high-profile events including a VIP reception, exclusive Corvette rally event, Corvette cruise-in and a special panel discussion on the history and future of the Chevrolet Corvette.

(January 25, 2019) LOS ANGELES — On Saturday, Feb. 23, the Petersen Automotive Museum will open its newest exhibit featuring 10 groundbreaking race cars, each with a unique story of triumph and victory, from the collection of Petersen Founding Chairman Bruce Meyer. Titled “Winning Numbers: The First, The Fastest, The Famous,” the exhibit will include exceptional competitors including Le Mans winners, land speed record setters, dragsters and road racers.

'Legends of Los Angeles' motorsports exhibit now open at Petersen

(November 20, 2018) LOS ANGELES — The Petersen Automotive Museum has opened its latest exhibit, “Legends of Los Angeles: Southern California Race Cars and Their Builders,” in the Charles Nearburg Family Gallery presented by Lucas Oil. The display features 12 race cars powered by engineering masterminds such as Ed “The Old Master” Pink and Fred Offenhauser and piloted by legends such as Don “The Snake” Prudhomme, Parnelli Jones, Bill Stroppe and Dan Gurney.
