NHRA Motorsports Museum releases historical videos

(December 5, 2021) Museums aren't just places to store old stuff, they're places to tell the stories that mean something to us using that old stuff as a medium. The staff at the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum knows this all too well. A video series that curator Greg Sharp and racer Jack Beckman put together earlier this year tell fascinating stories of drag racing and hot rodding history.

Mullin Automotive Museum named Museum/Collection of the Year

(November 26, 2021) OXNARD, Calif. — The Mullin Automotive Museum has announced that it is the recipient of the 2021 Historic Motoring Awards title of Museum/Collection of the Year, which was announced during the awards ceremony that took place at the Rosewood Hotel in London, England on Nov18. This is the museum’s first win. It is the second Historic Motoring Award for Mullin founder and CEO, Peter W. Mullin, who won the Personal Achievement Award in 2016.

Petersen Automotive Museum announces new hypercar exhibit

(November 12, 2021) LOS ANGELES — The Petersen Automotive Museum has announced a new exhibit that explores the world of hypercars, the fastest and most exclusive cars money can buy, which is coming to the museum on Dec. 4.  Over the next 18 months, the exhibit Hypercars: The Allure of the Extreme will rotate up to 30 vehicles that highlight what hypercars stand for and why they continue to captivate the global automotive community.

(April 1, 2021) LOS ANGELES — The Petersen Automotive Museum has added eight new vehicles to The Vault presented by Hagerty, offering guests an updated tour experience. New Vault cars include a 1959 Deutsch-Bonnet HBR5 Coupé, 2015 Chevrolet Camaro art car, 1964 Chevrolet Impala “Gypsy Rose,” 1960 Plymouth XNR Replica, 1982 Knight Industries Two Thousand “K.I.T.T.” car, 1948 Bentley Mk VI “New Look” Saloon, 1939 Packard Twelve Landaulet, and 1974 Dale Mock-Up.

Petersen Automotive Museum to reopen to the public Thursday, March 25

(March 17, 2021) LOS ANGELES — The Petersen Automotive Museum will reopen to the public on Thursday, March 25  with new exhibits, new vehicles and a new schedule of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. To express its gratitude to all those on the front line during this challenging time, the museum will offer verified health care workers and first responders complimentary admission for themselves and up to three immediate family members for the rest of 2021.

A peek inside FDR’s flathead V-12 armored 1942 Lincoln

(February 16, 2021) In its latest video celebrating million-dollar cars, the Petersen Automotive Museum takes an in-depth look at President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s armored 1942 Lincoln, just in time for Presidents’ Day this week. Petersen’s chief historian Leslie Kendall gives this tour from the museum’s Vault, where this Lincoln can usually be found surrounded by other cars that were used by various international heads of state.

Betty White’s ‘Parakeet’ Cadillac on display at AACA Museum

(January 29, 2021) Much was made recently of actress Betty White’s 99th birthday. But did you know one of her favorite cars, a 1977 Seamist Green Cadillac Seville she named “Parakeet,” resides at the AACA Museum in Hershey, Pa.? The car was a gift from her late husband, television game show-host Allen Ludden. To celebrate its former owner’s birthday, the museum staff staged a 99th birthday party around the car.

Mullin Automotive Museum to reopen weekends beginning Nov. 6

(October 20, 2020) LOS ANGELES — The Mullin Automotive Museum will reopen to the public on Friday, Nov. 6,  establishing a new schedule of 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday through Sunday. Fans of the museum and new visitors will see Concours “Best of Show” winners such as the 1936 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic, 1938 Hispano-Suiza Dubonnet H6B “Xenia,” and the 1937 Talbot-Lago T150-C-SS Goutte d’Eau; as well as crowd favorites such as the 1994 Bugatti EB 110 Supersport “Le Mans” and the world’s most extensive collection of Bugatti artwork, sculpture, and furniture.

Petersen Automotive Museum, Porsche partner for Virtual Car Week

(August 14, 2020) LOS ANGELES  — The Petersen Automotive Museum will continue its partnership with Porsche to present a Porsche-only virtual car show today (Friday, Aug. 14) during Petersen Car Week Presented by Michelin. Porsche will be the title sponsor for the entire roster of Friday events, which include a walk-around of the Koenigsegg Gemera, a RUF shop tour, HRE facility tour, Legends of the Autobahn, Bonhams auction, O’Gara Coach garage tour and The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering.
