(August 27, 2016) Overall sales totals reached $50 million at the 2016 Mecum Daytime Auction in Monterey, Calif., with strong individual sales topped by several cars that reached or exceeded the million-dollar mark. Headlined this year by three vehicles that hammered at $4.7 million, $4.4 million and $3 million, respectively, the Mecum Daytime Auction hosted a total of 704 high-end classic and collector cars, all of which crossed the Mecum auction block Aug. 18-20.

Overall sales totals again surpassed the previous year’s totals, this time by a leap of more than $5 million.

The headlining Modern Speed Collection consisted of 11 of the most exclusive, powerful and technologically advanced vehicles on the planet.
