Silverstone to sparkle with silver dream machines

(May 20, 2015) SILVERSTONE, England — Whether it’s rocking to Status Quo or reveling in the widest ever spectrum of motor sport history, this summer’s Silverstone Classic (July 24-26) will mark its 25th anniversary in glittering style.

The biggest celebration, though, will be the special Silver Jubilee parade — one of the many highlights on "Super Sunday," which will see hundreds of silver cars taking to the famous Silverstone Grand Prix track.

Legendary line-up: Nine Jaguar heritage cars to be at Mille Miglia

(May 14, 2015) MAHWAH, N.J. — Nine of Jaguar's most decorated and iconic heritage cars will compete in the 2015 Mille Miglia as the brand celebrates its 80th anniversary. Fans lining the 1,000-mile loop in Italy will be treated to the sight of three C-types, three D-types, an XK120, an XK140 and a MK VII saloon, which will compete as part of the Jaguar Heritage team.

1954 Mercedes-Benz Type 300 SL added to Historic Vehicle Register

(April 23, 2015) A ground-breaking, European sports car with an incredibly American story —the 1954 Mercedes-Benz Type 300 SL — has become the seventh addition to the National Historic Vehicle Register.  Without the persuasive efforts of renowned car importer, Max Hoffman, it’s likely a road version of the Mercedes-Benz Type 300 SL race car would have been little more than a pipe dream. Convinced the sporty design would do well in the American market, Hoffman placed a significant order for the initial vehicles.

More than $8.56 million realized from classic car auction in Germany

(April 23, 2015) ESSEN, Germany — International auctioneers Coys have achieved massive results in excess of €8 million ($8.56 million) at their Techno-Classica auction in Essen, Germany, on Saturday, April 18.

The auction, held at the largest classic car show in Europe, featured vehicles such as a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing, which sold for $1,164,593 (pictured above), a 1988 Porsche 959 Coupe ($967,815) and a 1938 BMW 328 Roadster ($595,102).
