(October 28, 2021) The first Pep Auto Supplies store was opened in Philadelphia, PA, by four friends in 1921. Meeting with success, that first store became a spring board for 40 other outlets in the Philly area. In 1923 the name was changed to “The Pep Boys – Manny, Moe, and Jack.”

Paul Cowland learns to drive 1903 Knox for London to Brighton run

(October 22, 2021) LONDON — Hagerty is a partner of the 2020 RM Sotheby’s London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, taking place on Sunday Nov. 7,  and Hagerty will take part in the famous event in its 1-cylinder 1903 Knox, a regular participant in the event. The London to Brighton Veteran Car Run is the world's longest-running motoring event, the first run taking place in 1896 to celebrate the Locomotives on Highways Act 1896, which liberalized motor vehicle laws in the United Kingdom. Today, participating cars must have been built before 1905.

Chevrolet Performance unveils 1,004-horsepower crate engine

(October 21, 2021) DETROIT – Chevrolet Performance has introduced the ZZ632/1000 crate engine — the largest and most powerful crate engine in the brand’s history. The naturally aspirated 632-cubic-inch V-8 produces 1,004 horsepower and 876 lb-ft of torque.

Rare Renault Clio V6 being auctioned by Collecting Cars

Mecum Las Vegas 2021 total sales exceed $22 million

(October 15, 2021) WALWORTH, Wis. — Mecum Auctions kicked off its October Takeover on a strong note this past weekend in Las Vegas, with the annual auction event finding continued success and total overall sales that reached $22.3 million. With 590 vehicles crossing the block Oct. 7-9 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, the auction saw high-quality offerings lead to active bidding both on-site and online, resulting in 508 vehicles hammering sold for a strong 86% sell-through rate.

Sykes, the owner of the classic Chrysler and Vintage Taxi Tours, has always had a passion for Detroit history as a car-enthusiast who has owned 20 pre-1980 classics from ‘20’s sedans to ‘60’s Chrysler muscle cars.

A father-daughter duo's journey to restore a 1983 Volkswagen Rabbit

(October 7, 2021) BRISTOL, Tenn. — George Linke grew up around car racing and tinkering on vehicles with his family. During the pandemic, Juliana, 7, expressed interest in helping her dad with home projects from painting to building a backyard deck. Keen on feeding her curiosity, Linke allowed her to watch, learn and participate where she could. Eager to give her more hands-on experience, Linke got an idea to start a new project together — restoring a car.

1979 Lamborghini Countach LP 400 S in national vehicle register

(September 29, 2021) WASHINGTON, D.C. — The 1979 Lamborghini Countach LP 400 S, chassis number 1121112, is well known for being the star of the 1981 comedy film The Cannonball Run. Exactly 40 years after the film’s release, considered one of the most iconic car movies of all time, the Countach, one of its stars, has made history by being included on the National Historic Vehicle Register of the United States Library of Congress, managed by Hagerty Driver’s Foundation, on the shortlist of just 30 cars to date considered of national importance for the United States.
