Mecum Auctions to offer 130 cars from Ron MacWhorter Collection

(October 24, 2016) DALLAS — Mecum Auctions will offer more than 130 cars from the Ron MacWhorter Collection at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas on Wednesday, Nov. 2. All but 10 cars from the collection will be offered at No Reserve.

MacWhorter has a special passion for the car collecting hobby, one that has only grown over the years. He absolutely loves “America’s Sports Car,” involving himself with five different Corvette-centric clubs and making Corvettes a special concentration of his wide-ranging collection.

He has Corvettes on offer at Dallas from 1954, 1957, 1960, 1963, 1964, 1966, 1967, 1978, 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2003. In some cases more than one from a given year, for instance he has two 1963s and two 1967 Corvettes.

Pony cars also take a prominent place with Camaros, Mustangs and Trans Ams well represented. Good, old-fashioned American muscle cars have their place too, with Chevelles, a Cuda, a 442 and a Lemans convertible among the offerings.

Some of the No Reserve cars from the massive collection of Ron MacWhorter scheduled to cross the auction block include these gems:

    1960 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible
1937 Ford Coupe Street Rod (pictured above)
1939 Buick Century Sport Phaeton (pictured at top)

Doors to Mecum Dallas 2016 will open each day at 8 a.m. with the auction beginning with Road Art at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, and at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 3-5.
