American muscle to be featured at Dallas auction

(August 30, 2021) WALWORTH, Wis. — Mecum Auctions will return to the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas Sept. 8-11 with an estimated 1,000 American muscle cars, classics, Corvettes, trucks, exotics, customs and more set to cross the auction block. With an annual auction held in Dallas dating back to 2011, Mecum has consistently found the Texas market to be a strong and welcoming one year after year.

For 2021, the lineup is proving to be as appealing as ever, with featured lots boasting a heavy concentration of classic American muscle. Highlights include a 3,645-mile 1969 Chevrolet COPO Camaro with its original Daytona Yellow paint, sheet metal and interior that’s been owned by the same family for 45 years. There is also a 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 Fastback showing KK No. 2274 and sporting a 429/375 HP V-8 engine and 4-speed close-ratio manual transmission. The latter pony car received MCA Gold designation in the “1969-1970 Boss Concours Trailered or Driven Class” at MCA Nationals and also MCA Diamond at Boss Nationals in Tulsa.


1967 Chevrolet Camaro

Also noted among the featured lots is a 1966 RCR Ford GT40 Replica that is one of six built by RCR for use in the award-winning film “Ford v Ferrari.” Powered by a 5.7L V-8 engine and 6-speed manual transmission, the vehicle was nicknamed the “Dan Gurney Car” since it was the No. 3 car used in the Le Mans race scenes.

The William Scott Collection includes five lots with each boasting a high-quality restoration; the group is highlighted by an MCA Gold Award-winning 1969 Shelby GT350 Fastback with a matching-numbers 351 CI engine and 4-speed transmission. Other lots in the collection are a 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Fastback  with a matching-numbers 428 CI engine and 4-speed transmission; a 1965 Pontiac GTO with a 389/335 HP engine and 4-speed transmission; a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS  packing a 396/375 HP engine and its original Muncie M21 transmission; and a 1970 Plymouth GTX  with a V-Code 440 6-BBL engine, transmission and differential.

The Triple B Collection offers a vast selection of 18 Ford Mustang and Ford Shelby models along with an outlying 1967 Chevrolet Camaro with an LS V-8 engine and Tremec 5-speed manual transmission. The Meaney Collection of six lots comprises a diverse selection including a 1941 Cadillac Series 62 Deluxe Coupe, a 1971 Austin America Coupe and a 1963 Ford Falcon Futura Convertible.
